Merila Massage FAQs
A massage should make you feel good. Get to know the steps beforehand so you’re feeling as relaxed as possible walking into your massage appointment at Merila Massage.
How do I book my appointment?
Book online anytime — choose your service, date, and time. A 50% deposit reserves your spot, and new clients get $20 off their first 60-minute session with code FIRST. You'll get a confirmation email right away.
Where should I park and how do I check in?
There’s plenty of free street parking on West Rustic Lodge Ave. Once you arrive, just text 612-462-4276 to let Max know you’re here. You’ll be welcomed in and guided to the massage room.
What should I do to prepare?
There's very little you need to do. Wear comfortable and come hydrated, well-rested, and ready to relax. Try to arrive about 10 minutes early to settle in. It helps to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours beforehand. This helps ensure you start your session feeling calm and centered. If there's anything specific for your service, Max will let you know ahead of time.
What's your cancellation policy?
A deposit holds your spot. You may cancel up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund — late cancellations and no-shows are charged 50%. Life happens, so if something comes up, just reach out.
What if it's my first massage, or I'm a little nervous?
You're not alone, and there's nothing to be self-conscious about. I'll explain everything before we begin, answer any questions, and adjust pressure and technique to your comfort as we go. You'll never be expected to know exactly what to ask for — that's my job. Plenty of my clients came in for their first real massage and now come back regularly.
Can I talk during the session, or should I stay quiet?
Whatever you prefer. Some people like to chat the whole time, others want to zone out in silence — both are completely fine, and you can change your mind mid-session. It's your hour.
What happens during my massage session?
Every session starts with a brief consultation about what's bothering you and what you'd like to accomplish. You’ll have privacy to get comfortable on a heated, cushioned table. From there, you'll get focused work tailored to your body, with pressure and technique adjusted to you throughout. Your comfort is the priority, and you can speak up for more or less pressure at any point.
Will I be sore afterward? What should I do after my session?
A little soreness over the next 24–48 hours is normal, especially after deeper work — it usually feels like you've had a good workout. Drink plenty of water, move gently, and take it easy on intense exercise that day. Max will share any aftercare or stretches that'll help you hold onto the results.
What makes Merila Massage different?
Every session is personalized — no "one-size-fits-all" routine, and the same therapist every visit in a calm, private studio. You work directly with Max from booking through treatment, and his goal is lasting improvement in how you move and feel afterward, not just an hour of relaxation.
